Why was this created?

Often times dancers are left without feedback from competitions or practices where it counts the most, in front of a coach's eye. This platform was created to fill that gap and provide dancers with the professional help they need to improve when they're actually performing in an event or in a studio. Also traveling is expensive. This provides dancers access to coaches where traveling is not an option.

What's the difference between a critique and a lesson?

Critique is a written or verbal evaluation of a dance performance, analyzing various elements and offering an informed opinion on its success and artistic merit. It's a powerful form of analysis that bridges the gap between the performance and the audience, providing insights into the choreography, technique, expression, and overall performance impact. A lesson focuses on teaching and guiding the learning process throughout a dancer's journey that's most effective and efficient in real-time and in most cases, in person. A critique is not to replace lessons but to compliment along side with lessons. It's the perfect combination to reach peak levels of performance.

I registered. Now what?

Once you have registered, all you need to do is choose your coach, purchase a critique session and submit you video. That's it! Your coach will send you a critique of your dance either with a written or video feedback via the platform to help you level up your performance.

How does pricing work?

The cost varies with each coach as each coach sets their own fee along with an application fee that's already included in the price. You can either purchase a single critique session one at a time or some coaches may also offer discounted packages. Check out their profile for details after you register.

How long does it take to get a critique?

Each coach sets their expected response time but typically between 1-3 days depending on the number of requests he/she has in their queue and unless otherwise noted (on holiday).

How do I receive my critique from my coach?

You will receive feedback from your coach through this critiquemydance web application platform via a notification email. Your coach will either provide a written feedback or a video analysis of your dance video as well as any additional videos the coach sees fit for your situation. Once you have reviewed your critique you can request another critique session. You can also rate your feedback for your coach to grow as well on the platform. You can review your feedback and track your progress anytime in the platform.

How do I become a coach on critiquemydance?

That's easy. Just simply register on the coaches portal here, set up your monthly subscription, update your profile, and once everything is approved, you're ready to receive critique requests. That's it! Any questions, please contact us.
